      I think the reason mathematics is so powerful and has grown to underpin all modern science is that it works incredibly well as a way to capture the patterns we see around us. Maths describes the way particles behave, the way light & electricity works, how liquids move, how bridges stay up, how the planets & stars and galaxies move and evolve. Maths can be used to describe what we mean by something being true or false, what it means to “add” things or “multiply” things, what we mean by a shape or an idea.

      It’s incredibly powerful and we’ve found nothing better over the last 3000 years
