      I do not own green trousers, and I am not related to Stephen Fry. Somehow, I fear I have failed you.

      I think we’re all related to Stephen Fry. We have 2 parents, 4 grandparents, and so on, so going back 50 generations (about 1000 years), we each have 1,125,899,906,842,624 ancestors. This is far more than the number of people who’ve lived in the past 1000 years, so there’s a lot of overlap within and between our family trees.       I bought my green trousers in a shop, and I’m very probably not related to Stephen Fry.
