My Nan passed away last Sunday and I was one day too late in reaching India. She was waiting for me to return home this time of the year, and so was I, to hug her- she was my last bit of pure innocence and goodness in life, my sweetest, most brilliant, kindest human, the only reason I still have a decent amount of sanity left in me, and some amount of hope left for the world. But even though we were supposed to meet this Tuesday, my family cremated her just before I reached Calcutta. If a time machine was possible I would come back to her the day before she had the stroke which gave her the massive cerebral attack, and I’d hug her again, but for the last time, and tell her again, but for the last time how much she is to me, that she is my human, my silly, lovely, out-of-a-utopian-universe human. And I’d tell her that I love and I miss her even when she is sitting right next to me. I really wish I had a time machine. My Nan was a chronological error, such humans don’t exist in this time period any more.
