      yes I would – it’s certainly interesting! And there’s a pretty well defined career path as well – undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree, postdoctoral research jobs (2-3 years each), lecturer, associate professor, professor…

      However, there is uncertainty at each stage and often people need to move cities or countries for work which not everyone enjoys.

      Luckily, there are tons of interesting jobs you can do if you are interested in maths! e.g. engineering, defence, tech (google, Amazon, Facebook, Uber etc), telecoms (Vodaphone), IT (Microsoft, IBM..), Medicine (Statistics, medical imaging, bio-mathmatics (particularly around genetic research)), finance (there is a lot of cutting edge mathematics in the finance sector – easily as hard as anything you do in academia – and it pays really well too).
